Asteroid Tribute to Elliott Smith Gets Cosmic Validation

The International Astronomical Union has officially named an asteroid after the late singer-songwriter, in a tribute that's out of this world. An independent filmmaker, Orlando Campopiano, got the idea while listening to one of Smith's most iconic tracks, and worked with his estate to submit a proposal, which was accepted by the governing body.
