EHX Percolator Pedal: Fuzz Circuit Inspired by Retro Harmonic Percolator
Recreating the retro Harmonic Percolator's unique buzz
Electro-Harmonix has released a pedal inspired by the 1970s Interfax Harmonic Percolator, a legendary fuzz circuit known for its unique even-order harmonics. This design was engineered to deliver sweet, musical distortion reminiscent of cranked tube amplifiers.
The original HP-1 Harmonic Percolator was built by Ed Giese at his Milwaukee audio repair shop, Interfax, using a rare mix of silicon and germanium transistors. The pedal's tan-and-brown cases with dual-slider layout have become iconic, earning it a cult status. Steve Albini, the late producer/musician who worked with the circuit, was instrumental in its popularity.
The EHX Percolator Pedal offers a faithful recreation of this unique fuzz circuit, complete with even-order harmonics and a distinctive sound that's sure to turn heads. With its rich history and cult following, the original HP-1 Harmonic Percolator is now highly sought after by collectors.
